Lineman is a skilled trades position. For HWEC linemen, they are required to complete a 4-year apprentice program which includes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as classroom training at (COLT) Central Ohio Lineworker Training. On-the-job training includes specific HWEC safety standards, Rural Utility Services drawings and line construction specifications and HWEC policy and procedures. Linemen are challenged both intellectually and physically in their positions.
